This free standing cottage dating back to the 1860’s, is stylishly renovated and decorated. It is ideal for 4 guests but can sleep 5.
The main bedroom is fitted with an antique double bed and an antique wardrobe. The second bedroom is fitted with two single beds and also with an antique wardrobe. The fith bed (single) is situated in the lounge area. All the beds are fitted with bedding and mattresses.
The bathroom has a shower, wash basin and toilet and has two entrances; one from the second bedroom and one from the patio.
The open plan kitchen and lounge area is equipped with a large indoor fireplace for your comfort. The cottage also has a built-in braai (BBQ) as well as a free standing unit.
The kitchen is fully equipped with a large gas stove, kitchen table and chairs, microwave, fridge, kettle, toaster, cutlery and crockery.

- towels (please bring your own towels for swimming)

What is the Payment Policy?
- Bookings are essential.
- A 100% deposit is payable to confirm your booking.
- We regret no Credit Card facilities available and cheques are not accepted.
- A minimum two (2) night stay is applicable in the main house.
- Right of admission reserved.
- All activities are done at your own risk.

Are there any planned activities?
Unfortunately the farm does not provide a daily program of activities, however, there is a lot to do on the farm: -
- Walking and hiking
- Mountain Biking
- Quad Bikes (bring your own)
- Picnic up at the secluded waterfall and dams
- Swimming
- Bird Watching
- Star gazing
- Watch the Game at feeding time (amazing experience)

What is your Policy regading Pets?
Pets only allowed in Cottage 3,4 & 5.
- All dogs, cats & caged birds welcome all year round.
- Pets sleeping inside - bring own pet beds and bedding.
- Dogs are not permitted on the furniture and beds.
- Dogs and cats must be free of fleas and ticks on arrival.
- Enclosed garden and easy access to walks.
- Dogs must be leashed at all times when outside of enclosure.
- Consideration must be given to resident dogs, cats, birds, farm animals and wildlife.
- If your dog is barking continuously please attend to it and have consideration for other guests.
- No Doggie Damages deposit required, however you will be held responsible for any damage done to the cottage or furnishings by your pet.

What tourist attraction are on offer?
Bo Kouga Mountain Retreat is well situated just off the R62 (also known as Cape Route 62) which forms part of a tourists alternative and a suggested, more scenic route from Port Elizabeth to Cape Town or visa versa. Bo Kouga Moutain Resort is close to: -

What about DSTV and Cell Phone reception?
- DSTV only available at the Main House.
- Openview HD Satellite television is available in all the cottages.
- There is cell phone reception at a specific spot on the farm close to the cottages with better signal on the walk to the waterfall.
What's the weather like?
Bo Kouga Mountain Retreat is located in the Western Cape Province of South Africa. Summers are warm to hot with mostly cool evenings. Occasionally we enjoy winter snowfalls sending icy cold weather up north. We also enjoy winter rainfalls and much of the Cape weather.

How do we find you?
COORDINATES to Farm Gate Turnoff:- GPS - S33º 39' 51.6" E023º 21' 14.4" or Google Maps: -33.664333,23.354000 Bo Kouga Mountain Retreat is situated approximately 130km from George, 29km from Uniondale and 62km from Joubertina. The last stretch is on gravel roads, where you will start to lose cell phone reception. There are two approaches to the farm on the R62. One is from George / Uniondale and the second from Joubertina. APPROACH FROM GEORGE
- Take the N9 out of George and travel over the Outeniqua pass for +-93km from the foot of the pass at the Engen garage to the turnoff on the right to R62 (Joubertina).
- (DO NOT TURN LEFT OFF THE N9 TO OUDTSHOORN). Carry on with the N9 in the direction of Uniondale until you reach the R62 turnoff to the right.
- Travel 12.3km from the N9/R62 turnoff to the R62/R339 turnoff to Uniondale on the left.
- Travel 2.35km down the R339 towards Uniondale and turn right into DE HOOP ROAD (dirt road)
- Travel 21.4km from the R339/DeHoop road turnoff to the turnoff to the farm on the left. (You will pass through two farm gates. Please close them once you through)
- There is a South African flag and a sign indicating the farm name – Bo Kouga Mountain Retreat.
- Travel 400m down this road to the farm gate.
- The Reception is on your left as you pass through the farm gate
APPROACH FROM PORT ELIZABETH/JOUBERTINA
- Taking the R62 through Joubertina in the direction of George, approximately 44km from Joubertinia turn right into BO KOUGA ROAD (dirt road).
- Opposite the turnoff is Ongelegen Primary school. There is also a large tree at the turnoff on the right of the road.
- Travel 10.3km down this dirt road until you get to a T junction.
- Turn left at the T junction.
- You will now see a small church on your left.
- Travel 8.2km down the road from the T junction and the turnoff to the farm will be on your right hand side.
- Travel 400m down this road to the farm gate.
- The Reception is on your left as you pass through the farm gate
